Pulitzer Prize winning novel about The Great Depression in the 1930’s. Specifically the Dust Bowl migration. This incredible story is about one Oklahoma farm family; the Joads. They are driven from their homestead and forced to travel west to the Promise Land of California. They pack up as much as their broken-down truck can carry, along with Ma, Pa, Grandma, Grandpa, Tom, younger brother and sister, and a family friend, and head west. I simply cannot say enough about it. I have read this book several times.  

Where do I begin? After you finish the Grapes of Wrath Dear Reader, you cannot go wrong with this series. This is the tale of Roland Deschain of Gilead. The Last Gunslinger. He is not from our world, but his traveling partners are. Stephen King takes us down a rabbit hole and keeps going. Mind blowing story. The first book was nothing compared to the rest of them. So please don’t stop there. I promise you will thank me. NOTE: He let twenty years go by between the third book and the fourth. I thought I would lose my mind! 

This book was my bible when I was in my 30-year marriage to a Narcissist. I recommend the first edition. I learned, firstly, that I was codependent. Bad. Also, I was enlightened that I was indeed codependent, but so many of my behaviors, i.e. going out with my girlfriends and not telling him where I was going and staying out as late as possible so he would know what ‘it’ feels like. That is codependency as well. Not surprisingly, I was in the ‘Perfect Storm” for my codependency to play out, being in a marriage to a narcissist. If you wonder if you are codependent, if you know you are and want help; this book is for you.
